Carved Stone bison purchased from auction in 2024. Wooden based. Native American auction. Edward R. Thomas (b. 1953) - Quartz Buffalo Sculpture c. 2004. Signed and dated by the artist. Edward R Thomas (b. 1953) is from the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. His Native American name is (First Buffalo) Payic Ibac of the bear clan. Thomas has exhibited at the Heard Museum Guild Show, Phoenix, and SWIA Indian Art Show and Market in Santa Fe, NM. The artist has won multiple 1st Place and Best of Fine Arts Awards at the Northern Plains Art Show and Market Sioux Falls, SD, the Denver Indian Center Cultural Arts Festival, the United Tribes Show Bismarck, ND, the Black Hills Indian Art Expo and Pow Wow Rapid City, SD, and the Northwest Indian Art Show and Market Portland, OR.
