Imported

Mark Tungilik (1913–1986) was an Inuit sculptor from Repulse Bay (Naujaat), Nunavut. A pioneering carver in the Kivalliq region, he created small and medium-scale figures of Arctic animals from locally quarried serpentine, often incorporating antler as a natural horn element. His work is celebrated for its rounded forms, expressive simplicity, and approachable charm, reflecting the rise of the contemporary Inuit art movement in the mid-20th century. Tungilik’s sculptures remain sought after by collectors for their spirited character and strong cultural identity.
